Team Liquid pulled off a historic comeback at FISSURE Playground 2 (FPG2), defeating FaZe Clan 2-0 in a high-stakes decider match and booking their place in the playoffs. The victory also catapulted the North American giants back into CS2 Major contention after a rocky start.

From 0-2 to Playoff Qualification

Led by Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek, Liquid bounced back from an 0-2 start in the Swiss group stage to finish 3-2. Wins over HEROIC (+89 points), TYLOO (+100 points), and FaZe (+79 points) boosted their VRS ranking from 31st to 16th.

This surge now places Liquid 12th in the European Major invite prediction, sitting comfortably 171 points ahead of BetBoom in 17th place.

Twistzz Shines Against Future Team

The storyline of the night was Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, who is confirmed to rejoin FaZe Clan after FPG2. Despite conflict of interest concerns, the Canadian rifler delivered a standout performance, especially on Dust2 where he partnered Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak to secure crucial rounds.

FaZe’s captain Finn “karrigan” Andersen even joked pre-game: “The whole thing was scripted.” But on the server, Twistzz proved his professionalism, helping Liquid overcome immense pressure.

Liquid’s New Energy

For months, Liquid had been criticized for their quiet and subdued atmosphere. Against FaZe, however, the team radiated confidence. Guy “NertZ” Iluz stood out, celebrating every round win loudly a shift that siuhy believes is crucial:

“NertZ has that energy inside him. Seeing him show it here is good for the team,” siuhy explained.

The win marked Liquid’s first arena playoff appearance since April, signaling a return to form at the perfect time.

FaZe Collapse After Strong Start

FaZe, who began FPG2 with a 2-0 record, ended their run with three straight losses against Falcons, The MongolZ, and Liquid. The sudden fall highlighted why FaZe are eager to secure Twistzz’s return.
